INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL DIAMETER COLLET WORKHOLDING
Speedgrip's experience in internal and external workholding goes far beyond our standard components. Engineered workholding mechanisms using various taper and collet configurations have been designed and built to accommodate parts well over 48" diameter.

These are capable of addressing such needs as "Pull Back", or "Dead Length" part positioning and can be designed with different actuation methods. Other features to deal with radial positioning, chip flow, and auxillary clamping can be engineered and manufactured to meet the most exacting workholding needs of your processes.

DIAPHRAGM CHUCK WORKHOLDING
The diaphragm principle of chucking has been used on many different applications. Parts can be held internally or externally, depending on the design of the diaphragm, and parts can be chucked lightly or with extreme pressure.

In all applications, it is necessary to chuck on the machined surface. In many applications, the natural spring tension of the diaphragm material provides sufficient grip force for chucking the workpiece. In, some applications the use of drawbar pressure can provide additional grip force.

Many chucks are self-contained, having a built-in air cylinder. Air usually reaches the cylinder by means of a rotary coupling and air line.

CLAMP AND FINGER CHUCK WORKHOLDING
Gripping a thin cross sectional part on it's diameter usually means that stress will be induced, and distortion is created. By using a Clamp Finger Chuck and gripping off the face of the part, grip force is generated linearly allowing the work piece to be machined in the relax state for better overall concentricity.

EXPANDING MANDRELS FOR:
MACHINING, BALANCING, AND INSPECTION

Speedgrip expanding mandrels are ideal for between center machining work because of their ability to elimate the need of close tolerance bores a solid arbor requires. Also they provide excellant centralization of parts for machining. Many designs are available and are applicable to both balancing and other inspection operations.

GEAR WORKHOLDING AND HOBBING ARBORS
Speedgrip's gear workholding addresses today's needs for the higher accuracies of the gear industry. By using collets in place of solid arbors, which requires non-removable load clearance, positive centralization of parts can be achieved. Additional benefits are the elimination of machining chatter and the ability to maintain closer geometric tolerances. I.D. or O.D. chucks to grip on Major, Minor, or Pitch Diameter features can be built for your process needs.

When Hobbing is the issue, Speedgrip's experience with such manufacturers as Leibherr, Gleason, and others, allows us to provide you with workholding that relates to the most current processes used today. Face Clamping Hobbing Arbors with centralizing collets, as well as the more traditional mandrels are available.

FIXTURE WORKHOLDING FOR:
TOMBSTONE, SUBPLATE, or PALLET APPLICATION

With today's new machines such as vertical & horizontal machining centers and the cell concept of manufacturing, processes are being consolidated but tolerances are still the key. When clamps and solid plugs on fixtures don't get you where you need to be, look toward Speedgrip's manual expanding locators or self-contained actuating chucks to give you the part positioning accuracy you need.
